 RoHS/WEEE Method ICP OES

ICP-OES for RoHS

Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry is an elemental analysis technique that measures all elements in a sample down to levels of 1ppb and lower.

Benefits for RoHS

  • Low level analysis (identification and quantification) of PBB and PBDE.

Additional Information:
To ensure the required homogeneity of the sample (per RoHS testing definition), samples need to be prepared via microwave acid digestion, dry ashing and hot acid digestion, or hot acid digestion alone.

Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry is an elemental analysis technique whereby a high temperature plasma source atomizes a sample and excites the atoms. This causes an emission of photons, with each element in the sample emitting different and specific wavelengths. The ICP-OES measures these individual wavelengths, and the type and quantity of each element is then calculated. The measurements can be made sequentially or simultaneously.
