  • Portable EDXRF (NITON XLt Field Portable XRF) is ideal for rapid and on-site screening of RoHS elements. Its portability allows users to perform testing anywhere, making it ideal for use in manufacturing environments, for screening of raw materials and components as well as finished goods. On complicated assemblies like printed circuit boards, these units are able to quickly identify any "hot spot" areas, where RoHS elements are detected at a concentration level of concern.

  • Bench Top EDXRF (ARL QUANT'X Laboratory XRF) is recommended for use in in a central lab for more in depth analysis, as it has more demanding limits of detection than a portable unit (down to 1PPM), and can also measure a smaller sample viewing area size, 1mm to 40mm size. The QUANT'X instrument also incorporates "Semi-Quantitative" or "Standard-less" analysis feature which is helpful when unknown samples need to be characterized.

  • Small Spot EDXRF (Thermo Fisher Micro XR, small spot XRF for the laboratory ) is ideal for use in a central lab for the analysis of small components (0.1mm to 1mm size) on PCBs, etc. and can also provide elemental mapping. In cases where a portable XRF unit has defined a potential problem area on a multi-component assembly (like a PCB), a small spot XRF is ideal for identifying the exact location and providing a more accurate elemental concentration reading. It can also perform thickness and concentration mapping of the area of interest.
