BOC Edwards Retrofit of E2M0.7, E2M1 and E2M1.5 Rotary Vane Vacuum Pumps
There is a possible safety issue with BOC Edwards pumps that may have been supplied with our instruments. Recently, BOC Edwards identified a possible safety issue with the E2M0.7, E2M1 and E2M1.5 rotary vane vacuum pumps. A small number of the motor capacitors on this type of pump have failed in use causing fire damage to the pump motor and, possibly, surrounding equipment.
BOC Edwards has created a free retrofit kit that they believe will resolve the safety issue. The attached letter from BOC Edwards can help you to determine if any pumps that you own or use have this potential safety issue. The document also describes what the BOC Edwards retrofit will do to resolve the safety issue.
