Montreux show logo

The 25th LC/MS Montreux Symposium, November 12-14, 2008
Historical Perspectives and a Future Outlook: The "Montreux LC/MS" series originated in 1980 under the organization of the International Association of Environmental Analytical Chemistry and was initially held in Montreux, Switzerland. This meeting has enjoyed ever increasing popularity due to the organization (Gordon Conference type atmosphere), attendance by leading practitioners in the field and the growth of LC/MS into the mainstream of analytical techniques.

International Plant Metabolomics show logo

5th International Conference on Plant Metabolomics, July 2008, Yokohama, Japan
The metabolome (a set of all metabolites of an organism) represents not only the ultimate phenotype of cells by perturbation of cellular function, but the metabolome can also affect back on cellular function. Therefore, metabolomics plays a key role for understanding cellular systems. Metabolomics research is important in the field of plant science, because plants collectively produce a huge variety of chemical compounds, far more than animals and even microorganisms. Most of the human-beneficial properties of plants, such as for foods, medicinal resources, or industrial raw materials, are ascribed to plant metabolites.

ASMS show logo

ASMS, June 1-5, 2008, Denver, Colorado
The American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) was formed in 1969 to promote and disseminate knowledge of mass spectrometry and allied topics. Membership includes over 7,000 scientists involved in research and development. Members come from academic, industrial and governmental laboratories. Their interests include advancement of techniques and instrumentation in mass spectrometry, as well as fundamental research in chemistry, geology, forensics, biological sciences and physics.

Biomarket World Congress show logo

CHI Metabolic Biomarkers, Biomarker World Congress,  May 19-21st, 2008, Philadelphia, PA
The signature event in Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s Biomarker Series, The Biomarker World Congress 2008 is dedicated to all areas of biomarker research spanning the pharmaceutical and diagnostic pipeline. The meeting brings together a unique and international mix of large and medium pharmaceutical, biotech and diagnostics companies, leading universities and clinical research institutions, government and national labs, CROs, emerging companies and tool providers—making the Congress a perfect meeting-place to share experience, foster collaborations across industry and academia, and evaluate emerging technologies. The Congress also offers a balance of scientific sessions covering the latest research and strategic presentations and brainstorming sessions for the decision makers.

MetaboMeeting 2008, 28-29th April 2008, Lyon France
The meeting is a European forum for practitioners from academia, government and industry interested in discussing the techniques and applications of metabolic profiling (metabolomics/metabonomics). It is intended to be a friendly and informal opportunity to present and discuss the latest developments in the field, and follows on from the highly successful meetings at the University of Cambridge, UK and Imperial College London. The founding principal of the Metabomeeting series remains; that is to provide a platform for the discussion of the current practise of metabolic profiling from researchers at all levels, from all scientific sectors.

Genomes to Systems event logo
Genomes to Systems, March 17-19th, 2008, Manchester, UK
Recent developments in bioscience research hold the promise of integrating knowledge to understand complete biological systems rather than just isolated components. They not only offer unprecedented opportunities for addressing important contemporary issues in biotechnology, biomedicine and clinical practice, but also give rise to major ethical questions. This Conference will focus on these technologies and their applications in science and healthcare.

At Genomes to Systems 2008, customer Rick Dunn, from Douglas Kell’s lab at University of Manchester, presented a technical seminar featuring the Thermo Scientific LTQ Orbitrap: The role of the LTQ-Orbitrap coupled with sub-2µm high performance liquid chromatography in metabolic profiling of microbial and mammalian metabolomes. Microscale show image

MicroScale BioSeparations,March 9-13, 2008  Berlin, Germany
The msb Symposium series is the premier meeting for microscale separation and analysis methods as applied to material of biological relevance. Thus, the abbreviation msb could also stand for Methods in Systems Biology. By providing a forum for novel miniaturized approaches in separation, detection and sample preparation for the life sciences, the meeting bridges cutting-edge technology with current biological and biomedical applications.
