CHAPS and CHAPSO
Non-denaturing detergents able to disrupt nonspecific protein interactions. They also have less protein aggregation than non-ionic detergents and are electrically neutral and easily removed by dialysis.
n-Dodecyl-b-D-Maltoside
A water-soluble nonionic detergent often used for isolating membrane proteins.
Octyl b-Glucoside
A non-ionic detergent that has been widely used for membrane protein solubilization.
Octyl b-Thioglucopyranoside
Offers solubilizing power comparable to Octyl ß-Glucoside, with increased stability.
SDS (Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate)
Unique distribution of carbon chain lengths in sequanal grade SDS (lauryl) is advantageous in resolving viral proteins during gel electrophoresis.
Sodium Cholate
A water-soluble ionic detergent commonly used for membrane protein and lipid isolation.
Sodium Deoxycholate
A water-soluble ionic detergent commonly used for membrane protein and lipid isolation.
