Kirsteen's expertise is in mouse genetics, with the manipulation of primary mouse hematopoeitic cells, molecular biology, DNA damage and oncogene signaling pathways.

Prior to joining Thermo Fisher Scientific, Kirsteen worked as a Staff Scientist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN USA in the Department of Oncology under Michael Kastan. Her primary roles were the investigation of the role of DNA damage in tumor development and investigation of novel chemotherapeutics in tumor development.
