Ana performed her Ph.D. studies at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL, Heidelberg, Germany) and Cancer Research Center (CNIO, Madrid, Spain) and received her doctoral degree from the Ruperto-Carola University (Heidelberg, Germany) in 2006. Ana's thesis focused on cell cycle regulation by a novel class of cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) activators.

During 2007 and 2008 Ana conducted her postdoctoral studies at EMBL where she focused on development of high-throughput and high-content methods to study the principles of mitotic spindle self-organization at the subcellular level.

In October 2008 Ana joined Thermo Fisher Scientific where she holds the position of European Field Application Scientist for the Genomics division.
