Thermo Fisher Scientific's New Nicolet NXR FT-Raman System

Thermo Fisher Scientific, the leader in molecular spectroscopy solutions, announces its new FT-Raman platform designed for maximum performance and sampling versatility. NicoletTM NXR FT-Raman spectrometers combine an analytical technique known for its minimal sample preparation and fluorescence-free data collection with new high-performance Raman detectors and its unique MicroStage FT-Raman microscope that permits easy macro and microsampling from the same stage.

High-Performance Raman Detectors and Lasers
The new NXR Genie germanium detector yields new levels of speed, signal-to-noise ratio, and hold time. The NXR Genie delivers enhanced sensitivity coupled with a tenfold increase in speed, permitting high-speed scanning without sacrificing data quality. Also new to the NXR FT-Raman platform is a TE-cooled InGaAs detector that improves detector performance and sensitivity over standard InGaAs detectors. A dual detector option allows users to start with the TE-cooled detector for quick uptime and fast operation, then collect their best data with the NXR Genie germanium detector.

Inside every NXR FT-Raman system are gold mirrors throughout, maximum performance Rayleigh rejection filters, and a dynamically aligned Vectra-PlusTM  interferometer—giving you a clear path to unsurpassed FT-Raman results.

The NXR FT-Raman platform includes options for a research-grade 2.0 W Nd:YVO4 laser operating at 1064 nm. Alternately, a semiconductor 1.2 W laser operating at 976 nm is available for a robust yet economical configuration.

Easy Sampling Now Better Than Ever
NXR FT-Raman spectrometers feature a sample compartment that accommodates the new NXR MicroStage FT-Raman microscope. Configured to accept 96-well plates, as well a microscope slides and sample cups, the MicroStage provides fully automated, high throughput sample analysis. The MicroStage makes FT-Raman microanalysis with excellent spatial resolution easily accessible, and offers full sample mapping capabilities. In addition, the NXR FT-Raman Module sample compartment accepts an extensive range of pre-aligned, pinned-in-place sampling accessories designed to accommodate typical sample formats, such as powders and liquids in vials, NMR tubes and bottles. The MicroStage is equally adept at sampling macroscopic materials as it is sampling microscopic materials.

Solid Platform for Solid Results
A hallmark to any FT-IR or FT-Raman spectrometer from Thermo Fisher Scientific is a precision-cast baseplate with pinned-in-place, pre-aligned components for maximum gain in performance, stability and serviceability. Instrument control and data collection, and analysis are mediated using Thermo Fisher Scientific's powerful and user-friendly OMNICTM  software platform for FT-IR and FT-Raman spectrometers. And, newly introduced to FT-Raman is a validation standard and procedure that provides standardized and manufacturer-accepted test protocols to establish proper system performance.

Thermo Fisher Scientific's Complete Lineup of New FT-Raman Spectrometers
The NXR FT-Raman family includes:

  • Dedicated NXR 9560 FT-Raman spectrometer designed for researchers requiring the highest performance available with its NXR Genie germanium detector and high powered 1064 nm excitation laser.

  • NXR FT-Raman Module brings the power and simplicity of the NXR FT-Raman platform to the complementary Nicolet FT-IR Series spectrometer from Thermo Fisher Scientific. The module is also compatible with earlier FT-IR instruments from Thermo Fisher Scientific such as Nicolet Nexus and Magna spectrometers.

  • Dedicated NXR 9610 FT-Raman spectrometer provides robust, reliable and economical FT-Raman with InGaAs detector options and a semiconductor 976 nm laser.

  • MicroStage FT-Raman microscope incorporates a motorized x-y-z stage, which is fully controlled by the OMNIC software. Optional µViewTM software permits the operator to select the analysis point simply by clicking on the video image. AtlµsTM mapping software package enables automated collection of line and area maps in addition to the sampling of multiple, user-specified points on the sample. The optional Array Automation software package fully controls array analysis.
