PRIME Workcell, efficiency and consistency in the sample management

Thermo Fisher Scientific offers integrated analytical and automation solutions for clinical laboratories. Our high-quality laboratory solutions consisting of automation, analyzers and diagnostics products, services and support help clinical laboratories to increase efficiency and improve safety. In other analytical laboratory fields, our Arena analyzers are used for food & beverages analysis and quality control e.g. for wine, juice, milk, honey, detergents and fertilizers. Furthermore we offer the Aquakem analyzers which are applied for water and environmental analysis.

Thermo Scientific PRIME Workcell combines two Konelab PRIME 60 analyzers with the user-friendly laboratory automation features, like sorting and decapping. Human errors on sample registration and sorting are minimized. One common entry point speeds up the sample processing. Analyzers support equal, partly equal or totally different test menus. Automated load balancing ensures optimal throughput for the system.

The Middleware software offers integrated functionality for managing the PRIME Workcell through one centralized user interface. Having a single connection to a laboratory information system is one of the key benefits. The degree of automation can be expanded by connecting the sample tube decapping function to the basic system. Analyzed samples can be automatically sorted, e.g. to storage racks or analyzer specific racks.

A new set of Thermo Scientific Arena Applications to better control the forming of acrylamide is introduced to potato snack and frech fries producers. The applications are to measure reducing sugars (D-glucose, D-fructose), sucrose and asparagine which form acrylamide under certain processing conditions.
