Serum Origin

Serum origin refers to the county in which the raw blood was collected. This is not to be confused with the country in which the raw serum was sterile filtered, but originated elsewhere. With HyClone Sera, the country of origin is not a secret. The documentation you receive will clearly state the country or countries of origin. This information is on the Certificate of Analysis and Certified Origin.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) considers certain countries to be free of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and foot and mouth disease (FMD). Some of these countries are New Zealand, Australia and all countries in South America, these are all locations where our serum is collected. However, the USDA permits only serum of New Zealand origin to be imported into the U.S. without safety testing. Serum from Australia, Mexico and Central America must be quarantined, sampled and tested. Once quarantined sera have successfully completed safety testing, it can be sold in the U.S. without restriction. The results of this testing are available to you with the purchase of any HyClone Sera product.

HyClone Super Low IgG FBS

Processed to substantially reduce IgG levels, HyClone Super Low IgG FBS  performance is equivalent to non-processed FBS and is suitable for applications requiring lower levels of specific antibody, such as propagation of bovine viruses and monoclonal antibody production.
