Thermo Fisher Scientific Offers Integrated Centrifugation Solution for Biological Applications

Thermo Fisher Scientific Offers Integrated Centrifugation Solution for Biological Applications MUNICH, Germany (April 1, 2008) - Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, introduced its NALGENE® 2L Bio Bottle, a two-liter centrifuge bottle for high-volume sample processing, at Analytica 2008. Designed with workflow in mind, NALGENE 2L Bio Bottles create a complete solution when combined with the Thermo Scientific Sorvall RC12BP centrifuge and H-12000 swinging-bucket rotor, enabling scientists to process 12 liters of sample in a single run. The NALGENE Bio Bottle will be showcased at the Thermo Scientific booth 105/204, Hall B1 at Analytica 2008, being held in Munich, Germany, from April 1-4.

Developed for gross separation of samples, including bacterial, yeast and tissue isolations performed in compliance with GMP (Good Manufactured Practice) regulations, NALGENE 2L Bio Bottles are highly suitable for biopharmaceutical applications.

The NALGENE 2L Bio Bottle and sealing cap are leakproof up to 7,333 x G and have an operating temperature range of 4°C to 22°C, with storage to 0°C. Constructed of chemical-resistant polypropylene copolymer, the bottles meet USP Class VI and are certified non-cytotoxic and non-hemolytic. A wide mouth opening simplifies decanting, re-suspensions and pellet removal, and the smooth inner walls are less likely to shear cells. Loading, recovery and sample storage are facilitated by its ergonomic design, which includes graduations for precise measurement. Furthermore, the bottles can also be used in an autoclave.

NALGENE 2L Bio Bottles are designed to fit the Sorvall H-12000 swinging-bucket rotor, an anodized aluminum rotor with a unique conical shape that improves pelleting. The system greatly increases process efficiency when used with the Sorvall RC12BP centrifuge, a dependable workhorse for large volume separations. This combination further illustrates the commitment of Thermo Fisher to provide high quality consumables and equipment that can be integrated to meet specific application-based requirements.
