  Thermo Fisher Scientific Introduces Next-Generation Flow Computer and 3-in-1 Transmitter
 

SUGAR LAND, Texas – (August 15, 2008) – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today introduced two new solutions designed for the transmission and production of natural gas. Unveiled today, the Thermo Scientific AutoPILOT PRO®, the company’s new next-generation flow computer, and the Thermo Scientific AutoMITTER PRO, the innovative Smart Multi-Variable transmitter for natural gas measurement, build on the company’s legacy of developing industry-leading gas flow products. Specifically, the AutoPILOT PRO offers a unique combination of flexibility, durability and superior measurement accuracy, while the AutoMITTER PRO easily integrates with the entire line of Thermo Scientific gas flow computers.

Often, a lack of manpower also leads customers to seek solutions that offer simple installation and minimal maintenance. The Thermo Scientific product suite does just that, and our new AutoPILOT PRO is a perfect example of our commitment to serving our customers’ most pressing needs.”

The Thermo Scientific AutoPILOT PRO gas flow computer was designed to be scalable from a single run measurement application to multiple runs with full station control, enabling a single platform to be utilized and expanded as needed. Once configured, the AutoPILOT PRO automatically performs tasks that typically need to be programmed, including flow calculations, alarms and I/O sampling. Engineered to consume minimal power, the new flow computer’s robust design also requires less monitoring and maintenance. Additionally, the AutoPILOT PRO’s advanced plunger lift algorithms have proven to increase production. AutoPILOT PRO customers benefit from reduced capital expenditures, less instrumentation to maintain and monitor, and greater productivity.

Key features of the AutoPILOT PRO include:

  • Expandable single run measurement application on up to six runs with full station control.
  • Built-in Ethernet and USB connectivity that ensures high speed data transfer and enables users to easily connect the flow computer to a flash drive, laptop, PC or printer.
  • 32-bit processor that offers faster calculations to enhance flow measurement.
  • Up to 16 expandable analog inputs scale to meet a wide range of measurement and control needs without requiring platform upgrades.
  • Enhanced security technology and built-in encryption.

The new AutoMITTER PRO, which replaces the Thermo Scientific AutoMITTER, integrates with the AutoPILOT PRO and is an upgrade of this industry-leading Smart Multi-Variable transmitter for natural gas measurement. The new 3-in-1 design measures differential pressure, static pressure and temperature, eliminating the need for separate transducers and, ultimately, saving money and maintenance time.

Key features of the AutoMITTER PRO include:

  • Seamless integration into the AutoPILOT PRO motherboard, eliminating the need for an external card; simplifies integration with other Thermo Scientific gas flow computers.
  • High-accuracy measurement is ideal for applications that are more sensitive to varying temperatures, such as ultrasonic measurement.
  • Three price-flexible models:
    • Low cost – Offers basic corrosion and hydrogen permeation protection.
    • High accuracy – Ideal for applications such as custody transfer and provides the features of the low cost model along with 0.075% accuracy. 
    • High accuracy with maximum corrosion protection – Features the highest level of corrosion protection with stainless steel process heads and full stainless steel bolts and hardware.
