Elevation of the prostatic fraction of acid phosphatase may indicate prostate cancer. Elevations of total acid phosphatase occur in various liver and bone diseases, Gaucher's Disease, Paget's Disease, and Niemann-Pick Disease.
The Acid Phosphatase reagent is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of Prostatic and Non-Prostatic Acid Phosphatase in serum. The reagent is suitable for manual use or on automated clinical chemistry analyzers. Applications for a wide range of automated analyzers are available on request.
