Chloride

Chloride is the major extracellular anion and is significantly involved in maintenance of water distribution, osmotic pressure, and anion-cation balance in the extracellular fluid component. Low circulating levels are associated with gastrointestinal or salt-losing nephritis, Addison's Disease, and metabolic acidosis. Increased levels often occur with dehydration, renal tubularacidosis, acute renal failure, diabetes insipidus, and adrenocortial hyperfunction.

The Chloride reagent is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of chloride in serum or hepranised plasma. This reagent provides excellent stability and convenience which ensures precision and correlation against existing assays. The reagent is suitable for manual use or on automated clinical chemistry analyzers. Applications for a wide range of automated analyzers are available on request.
