The Thermo Scientific Matrix SerialMate is a compact, automated pipetting workstation capable of performing various liquid handling tasks normally accomplished using electronic multichannel pipettes. Operating in either an 8/12-channel mode (for 96 well plates) or 16/24 (for 384 plates), Matrix SerialMate is the ideal, cost-effective automated alternative to tedious manual pipetting applications such as reagent addition, intra/inter-plate serial dilutions and plate replication.
Small footprint requires minimal bench space; fits into bio-hazard hoods
Liquid-specific calibration delivers optimal accuracy and precision regardless of liquid being used
PC/Software-based or LCD programming offers fast, simple protocol creation; programs can be saved for future use
Interchangeable pipetting heads allow 96 or 384 well plate processing on one instrument
Air-displacement pipetting using disposable tips ensures zero carryover between samples
Five-position work surface accommodates processing of two microplates and up to four different reagents
On-board shaking enables mixing of microplate wells during a protocol
Interchangeable 8/12 and 16/24 Channel Pipetting Heads
Four interchangeable air-displacement pipetting heads (ranging from 1.0µL-220µL) are available to meet a variety of volume and plate requirements. Pipetting heads are easy to install and work with Matrix SerialMate pipette tips.
Choice of Models
The Matrix SerialMate is available in a standard version featuring an operator-accessible, automation-friendly work deck or with a plexiglass safety enclosure featuring electronic interlocking access doors (SerialMate CE).
On-board Plate Shaking
Every Matrix SerialMate comes equipped with an adjustable microplate shaker enabling onboard mixing of well contents using orbital motion with a maximum amplitude of 2.5mm and a frequency range of 0 to 25 cycles per second.
Five-Position Work Surface
Accommodates virtually any deep or shallow 96 or 384 well plate.
Liquid Level Sensor
Detects when reagent reservoirs are empty and prompts user for refilling.
Choice of Programming/Control Options
The Matrix SerialMate can be controlled using its onboard LCD touch panel or ControlMate Software.
On-board LCD Screen
This touch panel allows you to create pipetting programs and store up to nine individual and 20 linked pipetting protocols in memory for fast execution.
ControlMate Software
A Windows®-based application that provides a graphical interface for controlling the Matrix SerialMate and other Matrix automated liquid handing instruments. The software comes standard with every Matrix SerialMate and an OLE ControlMate Software package is also available for robotic integration. Whichever programming feature you use, Matrix SerialMate allows you to control the following parameters within a pipetting protocol:
Aspiration/dispense volume, speed, delays
Tip aspiration/dispense/heights
Mix volume, speed, cycles
Air gaps
Selection of rows/columns to be processed
Reagent liquid level sensing
Tip touch off
Tip changes between rows/columns (tips can be returned to rack or ejected)
Plate shaking time
"Repeat" or "Neat" dispensing
Blowout volumes
A Unique, Two Chambered Disposable Reagent Reservoir
An accessory that provides large volume (150mL) reagent storage along with a small trough for dispensing excess reagent.
A Specially Designed Autoclavable Reagent Reservoir
An accessory featuring a capacity of 40mL and a deep V-bottomed trough that makes it easy to access expensive reagent and minimizes waste. By using the supplied reservoir frame, up to four reservoirs can be accommodated in one position on the Matrix SerialMate work surface.
