The Thermo Scientific Matrix PlateMate 2x3 is a 6-position versatile automated liquid handling platform. The instrument is compatible with 8 user-interchangeable disposable or fixed tip pipetting heads with a combined volume range of 0.1µl-300 µl. The Matrix PlateMate 2x3 is available in (2) versions, either standalone with safety light curtain and side shields to ensure user safety or robotic friendly for easy integration into larger robotic systems. Every instrument comes with the license free ControlMate software interface and is installed by an Automation Specialist to ensure all customers are fully trained and ready to hit the ground running after their Matrix PlateMate 2x3 set-up.

The optional Vaccum Filtration Kit integrates the Millipore MulitScreenHTS™ Vacuum Manifold and pump with the Matrix PlateMate 2x3. This new functionality means that all of Millipore’s filtration assays are now compatible with the Matrix PlateMate 2x3, including receptor binding assays, homogenous assays, genomic sample preparations, bead based assays, and other bioassays requiring filter plates
Choice of Pipetting Heads
The Matrix PlateMate 2x3 utilizes the same pipetting heads as the high throughput Matrix PlateMate Plus. With a total of eight user interchangeable pipetting heads available, the Matrix PlateMate 2x3 can be configured for almost any application your protocol requires.
Air-Displacement Heads: Utilize Matrix D.A.R.T.s® (Disposable Automation Research Tips) tips, and cover volume ranges of 0.5-30µL or 5.0-300µL in 96 configuration, and 0.5-30µL or 1.0-100µL in 384 configuration. These pipetting heads are ideal for applications requiring disposable tips, serial dilutions, or high aspiration volumes.
Positive Displacement Heads: Available in either 96 or 384 syringe configurations, with a volume range of 0.1-50µL (with stainless steel needles) or 1.0-50µL (with DuraFlex needles). Ideal for pipetting down to 0.1µL, resin/bead mixtures, liquids with high vapor pressure, or caustic reagents.
Six-Position Work Deck
Can accommodate any combination of microplates, tube racks, disposable reagent reservoirs, tip wash station, or other ancillary devices such as vacuum manifolds. 24V DC power source is available on the deck for other peripheral devices, and can be controlled via the ControlMate software interface.
Choice of Robotic Friendly or Standalone Safety Enclosure Work Stations
The Matrix PlateMate 2x3 is available with an open work deck for access by robotic arms and integrated components in automated environments, or a CE-certified model with a safety enclosure side panels and light safety curtain in the open front.
Precise Microplate Positioning
All (six) plate positions feature active positioning with X-Y resolution of 0.06mm. This ensures that 96, 384 and 1536 well plates can all be reliably aligned under the pipetting head. This high level of precision movement also enables the Matrix D.A.R.T.s tips or syringe needles to touch off liquid on the bottom or sides of microplates for dry dispenses, as well as deliver liquid into precise locations within a well.

Peristaltic Pumps/Liquid Level Detection
Two onboard peristaltic pumps can be used to fill reagent reservoirs or a tip wash station. Integrated non-contact liquid level sensing ensures that reservoirs are automatically replenished when desired, and that reservoirs are not over-filled.
Intuitive ControlMate Software
All Matrix PlateMate 2x3 functions are controlled with the intuitive drag-and-drop ControlMate software. This is the same software that is used on all Thermo Scientific Matrix automation platforms, and an available OLE package provides developers with an ActiveX automation interface.
