Product Detail
The Protocol Parasitology Collection Systems are designed to provide standardized procedures for the routine collection, safe transporation, preservation and examination of stool specimens for intestinal parasites and enteric pathogens. Through proper use of the products, Parasitologists and Microbiologists can be confident that diagnostic stages of intestinal parasites and enteric pathogens are preserved.
In accordance with the United States Clean Air Act, passed in 1990, the Protocol Parasitology Products are entirely mercury-free.
C & S and Cary Blair media facilitate the collection and transport of enteric bacterial pathogens such as Yersinia, Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter and Cholera Vibrio with an optimum recovery up to 96 hours.
The 10% Neutral Buffered Formalin products are appropriate for fixing helminth eggs, larvae and protozoan cysts. Fixed specimens may be examined directly or concentrated for recovery of eggs, larvae and protozoan cysts.
SAF (Sodium Acetate-acetic acid-Formalin) is a mercury-free preservative/fixative ideally suited for use with helminth eggs and larvae, protozoan trophozoites and cysts, coccidian oocysts and microsporidian spores. Slides fixed with SAF may be stained using trichrome or hematoxylin.
Modified (Cu) PVA acts as a preservative/fixative for protozoan trophozoites.
