The Model 55i's measurement of methane and non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC's) is based on the well established method of gas chromatography, utilizes flame ionization detection and features a proprietary column design to achieve ultimate separation of methane from all C2 compounds.
Product Detail
The Model 55i direct methane, non-methane hydrocarbon analyzer possesses unsurpassed sensitivity, repeatablity and specificity in ambient and source emissions. Configured for continuous, fully automated, stand-alone operation resulting in precise measurements.
The back-flush gas chromatography (GC) system is designed for automated measurement of methane and non-methane hydrocarbons. The GC allows for reliable measurement at sub-ppm concentrations, even in the presence of much higher methane concentrations. In addition, the proprietary column design is unaffected by oxygen, provides complete recovery of low volatility compounds and can achieve complete seperation of methane from all C2 compounds.
A sample is transported through an eight port valve and detector oven. Based on the chemical and physical charateristics, methane will move at the highest velocity and emerges first. The flame ionization detector will then measure the direct methane. When the eight port valve returns to the original positioning the back-flush of non-methane hydrocarbons will be activated for accurate reporting.
