Cap liners that offer inertness of PTFE and the resealability of silicone.
Thermo Scientific PTFE/Silicone Laminated Discs are flat discs composed of structurally bonded PTFE (10 mil thick) and clear silicone (75-125 mil thick) layers for use as in-cap liners and septa for various kinds of screw cap vials. When used with compatible open caps and glass vials, the discs provide a complete, inert seal and allow repeated access to samples with a syringe needle.
Product Detail
Highlights:
Laminated discs of clear silicone (75-125 mils, depending on disc size) and PTFE (10 mils); 85-135 mil total thickness
PTFE layer provides an inert, leak-proof barrier against the sample contained within the vial
Silicone layer provides structural support and excellent resealability even after multiple punctures with a needle
Silicone layer compresses, providing a "lock-washer" effect that maintains a tight seal and forcing the PTFE layer to conform to the sealing surface (i.e., vial rim)
Silicone layer is soft enough to enable easy needle-puncture; no more bent needles
Autoclavable, and suitable for heated GC derivatization reactions with appropriate solvents
Ideal for heated derivatization reactions for GC and HPLC using Reacti-Vial Small Sample Vials and Reacti-Therm Heating/Stirring Modules
