1) "What does the Atlas CDS control do?" Atlas provides digital instrument communication and control of the Thermo Scientific Accela pump, PDA detector, and autosampler for injection, data acquisition, and CDS data processing and reporting as an enterprise-wide client/server CDS. Accela data collected by Atlas is processed by Atlas peak detection, integration, reporting and data presentation.
This
Accela instrument control is only for the current shipping version of Atlas,
version 8.2 and will be provided as an extension kit to the core Atlas 8.2
software. The Accela connects to the Atlas CDS using a USB port and the standard
LAN port.
2) "What is the advantage of having Atlas CDS control of Accela?"
Atlas is Thermo Scientific's client/server CDS.
Companies interested in an enterprise wide CDS solution can consider Atlas as it
effectively collects data from LC and GCs, provides a single software solution
for all their instruments and has capabilities to serve multiple users and
instruments with full security and data protection. As a client/server
system, the Accela can be deployed on a "network" and the Atlas software does
not necessarily need to be on a PC physically right next to the Accela; it can
be anywhere on the Atlas network. Users can control the Accela on any
Atlas client PC and monitor Accela real time status from any Atlas client
PC. All Accela data, along with data from any other instrument being
controlled by Atlas, is processed by one set of software algorithms using the
same software user interface to provide a solid solution for many regulated labs (i.e. pharma) interested in ensuring uniform data handling and processing of all their instruments. Atlas also controls instruments from Agilent, Waters, and other instrument manufacturers.
