Thermo Fisher Scientific has been a major supplier of laboratory management systems to the metals industry for over 20 years with more than 80 systems supplied essentially to large primary metals producers.
ARMS system represents the fourth generation of Thermo Scientific laboratory result management products. Designed specifically for high speed metals production control operations with minimum laboratory staff, where relatively few production samples at any time with a continuous flow and fast sample turnaround times are typical of these laboratories and for which generic LIMS products often fail to provide solutions on sample throughput and speed of operation.
The Thermo Scientific ARMS automatically coordinates the flow of analytical results from multiple instruments throughout the laboratory. Partial results from every sample processed on two or more instruments are integrated into complete analyses, checked against predefined material specifications, stored for further processing and distributed to all decision points. ARMS can be adapted to most laboratory instruments and offers a full range of tools for monitoring laboratory activities with extended result display and editing capabilities. Up to sixteen instruments and up to four manual results entry terminals can be connected. ARMS can also be used to collect results from multiple decentralized laboratories to provide a central control point.
ARMS offers significant cost savings by reducing manual paperwork. It contributes to shorter response times, increased laboratory efficiency and improved reliability of results. ARMS is also largely compatible with automated laboratories and with ARL automated optical emission and X-ray fluorescence spectrometers in particular. This standardization of laboratory components simplifies supervisory and maintenance work.
