This course is designed for new users of the ARL 8400, ARL 8600, ARL 9400, ARL ADVANT'X, ARL 9800, and ARL OPTIM'X spectrometers with WinXRF software. New users will learn the skills necessary to operate the instrument and optimize analytical results for their specific applications. Each course is divided into equal portions of lecture and hands on laboratory time covering X-ray theory, hardware overview, qualitative/quantitative analysis, evaluation of performance, energy profile, high voltage calibration, position calibration, sample preparation, liquid analysis, drift correction, calibration/regression analysis, inter-elemental correction, fundamental parameters, routine maintenance, service/parts orientation, and X-ray safety.
