The RM 312 instantaneously and continuously measures centerline and transverse thickness, temperature, profile, width, edge drop and shape at the exit of a hot rolling mill. The wealth of process control and quality assurance data from these measurements helps mill operators improve operating practices, thereby improving mill throughput and yield.

For installation in:
Steel Hot Strip Mills
The Tomographic Strip Thickness Profile Gauge is a highly sophisticated measuring system, primarily intended for hot steel strip/plate applications.
Scanning through cross sections of material in production, it gives instantaneous high accuracy measurements. The accuracy is not degraded by typical passline variations and changes in strip orientation, and a high accuracy cross profile is generated very quickly, avoiding the 'diagonal profile' of scanning gauges.
Measurements:
Fast, high resolution cross profile thickness measurement acquired every 10 msec, updated every 5 msec. Cross profile readout for display purposes every 200 msec to 1 s.
Fast AGC thickness measurement.
Real time material width and position measurement.
Temperature profile measurement.
Crown, wedge and edge drop measurement.
Ridges and grooves are detected and classified.
Flatness measurement (option).
Length profile measurement.
Features:
Two X-ray sources for stereoscopic measurement. Accurate thickness measurement for all strip passline positions.
Low noise solid state/crystal scintillation detector array with 5 mm transverse resolution.
No C-frame or detector motion/oscillation.
Mechanical dimensions allow ease of installation into existing positions.
Scanning pyrometer.
Excellent reliability due to high redundancy of important components.
Quality report of every strip. Long term data storage.
