With the SC 4000 the measurement is made just by placing the instrument on the metal surface and pulling the trigger. The amount of oil is shown immediately on the display. The individual readings and measurement data statistics are stored in the system memory together with the user and the calibration information.
The reporting options include viewing the measurement statistics on the unit display and the ability to transfer all measurement data to a MS Windows based reporting tool software provided with the instrument.
The SC 4000 is applicable to a wide range of lines:
- Steel Cold Mills
- Steel Process Lines
- Aluminium & Non-Ferrous Cold Mills
- Aluminium & Non-Ferrous Process Lines
- Pickling Lines
- Hot Dip Galvanising Lines
- Electrolytic Coating Lines
- Pressforming Lines
- Steel distribution centres
The instrument is available in two versions, GS and AT:
- GS version is optimised for pickled, electrogalvanised and other mat substrates.
- AT version is designed for all other measurements, such as thin oil coatings on shiny substrates.
Both models are provided with data transfer to PC and with Windows software package for reporting and calibration. SC 4000 main features:
- Accurate and fast on-site measurements with a wide oil film thickness range.
- The measurement is fully non-destructive to oil film and substrate.
- Can be used for lubrication or corrosion protection oil films, dry lubricants or other organic coatings.
The SC 4000 has a unique method of ensuring reliable operation of the instrument. This patented method is based on the use of a reference plate containing a stable, permanent sample film. The user can easily check the response of the instrument against the reference plate.
For continuous online measurements Thermo Fisher Scientific offers an Online Oil Film Thickness Gauge that is based on the same infrared measuring principle.
