Polara 2.3 lab automation software integrates all Thermo Scientific Dimension4™ hardware and supported third party instruments under a single control architecture, enabling users to control systems as small as a low-volume instrument loader to large, ultra high throughput screening systems containing many instruments from a wide variety of manufacturers.

Full Support for  Dimension4 HSDM Movers

Polara 2.3 software enables users to integrate and control lab systems based on the latest Dimension4 High Speed Distributed Motion (HSDM) movers: the Thermo Scientific Vertical Array Loader (VALTM), Linear Plate Transport (LPTTM) and Flip Mover. The HSDM movers eliminate instrument-to-instrument microplate transport bottlenecks in such HTS applications as ELISA, cellular assays, and fluorescence assays, resulting in throughputs of up to 1000 microtitre plates per day.

New, High Throughput Scheduler

Polara 2.3 features a high throughput scheduler with several major enhancements over Polara 1.3 and 2.0. The scheduler:

  • Supports dynamic re-scheduling of a run, enabling operators to add batches to a run already in progress
  • Adds support for the  Vertical Array Loader, the new plate mover from Thermo Scientific that automates labs in the vertical dimension
  • Generates optimized schedules faster for a broader range of methods
  • Schedules more than 10,000 samples in a run (more than 300,000 microplates in a single run)
  • Supports parallel assays and instrument pooling, resulting in higher throughput
  • Supports mandatory observance of incubation time constraints, resulting in more consistent sample processing
  • Provides Thermo Scientific OnMover™ plate operations, enabling operations (barcode reading, for example) to be performed while the mover holds the microplate
  • Supports full recovery from unscheduled shutdowns or interruptions

Re-styled GUI

Polara 2.3 sports a re-styled graphical user interface that provides a consistent way to integrate and control either HSDM or robotic lab systems.

Full Backward Compatibility with Polara 1.3 and 2.0

Polara 2.3 is completely backward compatible with POLARA 1.3 and 2.0, offering such features as:

  • Support for Thermo Scientific CataLyst and F3 robots
  • Graphical editors that enable researchers to easily create and test methods and schedules offline
  • A run-time graphical interface that enables operators to control batch processing and monitor all sample operations
  • Remote monitoring and remote alert capabilities
  • Detailed logs and audit files
  • Security features that facilitate compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 11:
    • System configuration and assay protocols protected from change by unauthorized users
    • All changes to lab system configuration logged
