Viable Impactor, Two Stage


There are two constraints on all viable particle samplers: the particle must be separated from the air, and the ability to reproduce results must be maintained. The Two Stage, 200 jet-hole, inertial impactor satisfy these constraints and are proven to be the efficient for collection of bioaerosols in both respirable and non-respirable fractions.

The Two Stage Impactor is comprised of an aluminum inlet cone, two sampling stages, nd a base plate held together by three threaded studs and sealed with O-Ring gaskets.  Each sampling stage has 200 precision machined jet orifices.  The Two Stage Viable Impactor requires a flow rate of exactly 28.3 lpm (1 CFM).

Microbiological content of air has become a significant environment concern as the need for "contamination-free" air increases. Viable particulate samplers are used to collect airborne bacteria and fungi.

The collection and assessment of aerosol samples is very simple.  A petri dish containing an agar medium appropriate for the microorganisms which may be encountered is placed in the instrument and a sample of air is drawn.  The petri dishes are then removed, inverted, incubated and counted by an accepted method.
