HyClone Cell Culture Grade Water is not just "endotoxin screened," it is endotoxin-free (to the maximum detection limit of <0.005 EU/mL by turbidimetric assay). Endotoxin interferes with normal cell proliferation and growth. Its effects are not completely predictable and it can actually artificially enhance cell culture growth. In cultures used to produce human or animal products, its presence can elicit a febrile response in the patient. Accordingly, it is vital to keep the cultures free of contaminating endotoxins. The assurance that water is free of endotoxin not only quells concerns about the reagent's physical properties, but it also assures that the reagent was prepared under the best of processes and procedures. Use of endotoxin-free water removes one more potential doubt or problem. The purification process for our Cell Culture Grade Water includes deionization, reverse osmosis, distillation and 0.1µm filtration. Applications include:
