In order to work with nucleotides such as RNA and DNA and to prevent subsequent degradation due to enzymatic activity, it is necessary to use reagents, including water, that are devoid of all nucleases. Nucleases are naturally occurring enzymes whose role is specifically to cleave nucleotide polymeric molecules such as DNA or RNA at various points. Theoretically, just one molecule of a nuclease could systematically facilitate the destruction of an entire nucleotide sample over time. HyClone Molecular Biology Grade Water is purified, tested and certified to have no detectable contaminating activity in DNase, RNase, and Protease assays. It is very low in endotoxin and contains no DEPC or any other carcinogenic chemicals. Our purification process includes continuous deionization, reverse osmosis, ultra-violet light treatment, multi-effect distillation, and 0.1µm filtration. Applications include:
