Thermo Scientific Blast-Hole Xpert (BHX)

Decisions based on inaccurate or inadequate data can lead to quarry inefficiencies, shortened quarry life and process problems. Our BHX system is designed to help cement producers avoid these problems.

The BHX mounts on your existing drill rig and analyzes drill cuttings in real time. The drill cuttings are transported by air through the instrument for analysis and the material’s composition is then
communicated to the quarry office via a wireless radio network at the completion of each hole. Immediate access to the analysis generates savings on laboratory costs and reduces the high cost of hauling good material to the dump and bad material to the crusher.

The Thermo Scientific BHX is a unique tool for quarry control and complements our Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analyzer (PGNAA) line in the cement process.

The BHX measures these oxides:

• SiO2
• Fe2O3
• Al2O3
• MgO
• CaO
• Na2O
• K2O

The BHX system can display any number of calculated parameters, such as:

• Lime Saturation Factor (LSF)
• Silica Ratio (SR)
• Alumina-Iron Ratio (AR)
• C3S
• C2S
• C4AF

Custom equations can be easily added.
