The hot steel plate gauges optimize the mill process by reducing plate thickness variation with extremely high measurement accuracy. Measurements at high speed, low noise, and with cross-profile resolution yield twice the accuracy of conventional gauges that use ionization chambers. In addition, this product offers high reliability, flexibility and user friendliness.

For installation in:
Steel Hot Plate Mills
Steel Plate Shearing Lines
The Plate Thickness Profile Gauge combines high sophisticated sensor technology and high performance Ethernet based computer systems with industry proven design of the C-frame and scanning mechanism. Plate thickness cross profiles are taken without C-frame movement.
For steel plate and hot plate applications we also offer a Plate Thickness Gauge with one measuring head for length profile measurement.
Measurements:
Thickness cross profile measurement within 5 seconds. The profile is taken by scanning measuring heads inside the C-frame
Thickness length profile measurement (simultaneous) at the plate edges and at centreline with fast AGC output.
Temperature measurement with pyrometer. Compensation for steel temperature to give 'cold' thickness at 20 °C.
Crown and wedge calculation and display.
Width measurement of the plate (option for plate shearing lines).
Temperature profile measurement (option).
Length and speed measurement of the plate (option).
Features:
Three measuring channels, each with own and fully independent electronics for evaluation of plate thickness, alloy and temperature expansion correction, analogue and digital I/O and communication to the main computer. High geometrical resolution of the measurement.
Three Gamma-ray sources, each with three scintillation detectors with fast response and high effiency. Best signal-to-noise ratio and 2-times better accuracy than conventional gauges which use ionization chambers.
Excellent reliability due to high redundancy of important components.
Stepper motor drives for measuring head's movement. Alignment between sources and detectors by position control with continuous position check and frequent alignment.
C-frame completely made of stainless steel. Cooling devices for measuring heads (water) and for the C-frame (blown air and water).
Ethernet based or serial interface based communication protocols with customized data content.
