The Thermo Scientific LESA (Light Element Slurry Analyzer) provides accurate, real-time elemental analysis of slurry streams for optimization of the beneficiation process. Designed specifically for the iron ore industry, the LESA utilizes the Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis (PGNAA) measurement technique enabling it to measure lighter elements including silica (Si) that traditionally can not be measured by XRF.

By accurately analyzing your slurry streams, the LESA will enable you to optimize recovery and reduce reagent consumption. The LESA can also be used to provide metallurgical accounting information when used in conjunction with a SamStat-20C continuous sampling station. This integrated solution is the most cost effective way of achieving accurate metallurgical sampling for the iron ore industry. 

By using PGNAA technology, the LESA has been proven to measure problematic light elements such as Al, Si, K, S, Na, Mg, & Cl. The ability to measure gangue material such as silica, alumina or magnesium as well as many of the heavier elements including Fe makes this a valuable tool for iron ore plants.

The LESA is available in a single stream configuration for analysis of a critical stream or can measure up to eight streams with a multiplexer. Fixed slot samplers are located on the multiplexer feed to allow the collection of shift composite samples. De-aeration of frothy process streams is also achieved by the multiplexer to ensure a high level of accuracy.

The Light Element Slurry Analyzer features digital signal processing and can now be linked to your plant network via either copper or fibre cables, with copper cables then used to connect to the Central PC. The Central PC will receive assay information and is used to make changes to process operations.

  • Number of streams: 1-4 with multiplexer (8 max. under favorable conditions)

  • Sample flow rate: from 1 to 20 m3/hr
