The Gamma Metrics, COBOSTM software is the most widely used blending program in the coal industry. It can blend up to six coal sources and achieve up to five simultaneous quality control targets, such as sulfur and ash. Automatic or manual blending can be done continuously or in batch mode with feeder proportioning as frequently as every minute.

COBOSTM is a coal blending software package developed to blend coals from multiple sources to achieve a quality target. Through the use of a Gamma-Metrics PGNAA Analyzer. the quality of the coal being shipped can be continuously monitored. Using this information plus the COBOS control software the product quality can be controlled to satisfy customer specifications.

COBOS can handle up to six coal sources and up to five control parameters.

COBOS can operate in a manual or automatic mode. In the manual mode COBOS sends blend recommendations to the operator through the operator console screen. The operator is responsible for acting on these control values. In the automatic mode COBOS will send feeder control requests to the customer’s control system. The customer’s system will then control the feed from the sources based on these COBOS generated values. COBOS can accept constraints on flow rate from any source as well as minimum and maximum values on all control parameters.
