The detector of the FH 40 NBR is a complex combination of organic scintillator material, a NaI(TI) crystal and extremely fast evaluation electronics.
With this combination of detectors, an energy characteristic according to the ambient dose equivalent H*(10) is achieved. The high efficiency of this detector allows an accurate determination of the dose rate within a few seconds and an immediate decision about whether it is natural or artificial radiation, using patented NBR (natural background reduction) software. For obvious reasons, the FH 40 NBR is known by First Responders as the 'Blue Sausage'!
