The Thermo Scientific LPTTM (Linear Plate Transport) provides extremely reliable, high speed microplate transport between instruments. Automating microplate handling boosts walkaway time for lab personnel, reduces human error, and increases throughput dramatically.
Product Detail
The Thermo Scientific Linear Plate Transport (LPT) shuttles multiple microplates at high speed among multiple lab instruments and peripherals, enabling users of Polara software to achieve ultra high throughput in such applications as ELISA, cellular assays, and fluorescence assays.
The LPT features an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene belt, driven by a precision brushless servo motor, that transports multiple microplates in either direction at high speed without spilling or otherwise compromising their contents.
The modular design of the LPT enables system integrators to easily and quickly change its length. There are three LPT modules: a motor module, an idler module, and optional insert modules. To change the length, the system integrator simply adds or removes insert modules (see Figure 2). The shortest LPT (1.6 m) consists of a motor module and an idler module; the longest (5.6 m) of a motor module, four insert modules, and an idler module.
The LPT is easy to integrate and operate. All LPT electrical power and control signals are contained in a single umbilical cable, which connects the LPT to its controller. The support structures for each LPT module feature cable panduits that protect and conceal system wiring. A regulator and filter mounted in the motor module support structure distributes air pressure to the entire length of the LPT.
The Thermo Scientific LPT provides extremely reliable operation, with an estimated 40,000 hours mean time between failure, and requires no maintenance. The safety features of the LPT include an integrated emergency stop circuit.
