   Product Detail

Thermo Scientific offers the FRENCH Press and two models of FRENCH Pressure Cells for the disintegration of chloroplast materials, blood cells, unicellular organisms, homogenates of animal tissue and other biological particles. The pressure cell disrupts the cellular walls of a sample while leaving the cell nucleus undisturbed. This technique results in more uniform and complete disruption. The FRENCH Pressure Cell delivers higher pressures than bombs or decompression systems, without pre-treating the sample.

CELLS

The two models of cells give you a choice of cell volume and working pressures. The 40K cell has a maximum working pressure of 40,000 psi and a cell capacity of 35ml. The miniature cell for work with small sample volumes holds from 1.4 to 3.7 mL and has a maximum working pressure of 20,000 psi.

LABORATORY PRESS

The motor-driven press has a three-position control and an easy-to-read pressure gauge. It delivers regulated pressure over a relatively long stroke, with a power-driven return stroke and two pressure ratios to permit precise settings at low pressure.

With the ratio selector set to the HIGH position, the maximum force exerted with a hydraulic pressure of 2,500 psi is 31,400 lbs. In the MEDIUM position, the hydraulic pressure results in a maximum force of 6000 lbs. on the platen. This ratio is required when working with the mini cell, due to its smaller bore size.

MANUAL FILL

Manual fill FRENCH Pressure Cells are filled by inverting them on a three-column filling stand and pouring the sample directly into the cell bore. Samples can be pre-measured or measured in the cell itself.

RAPID FILL

The rapid fill kit accessory for the 40K cell model is for automated cell filling, repeated processing runs, and more rapid processing.
