The Thermo Scientific PSM-400MPX Particle Size Monitor uses ultrasonic attentuation technology to provide particle size analysis of a mineral slurry stream. Continuous, real-time feedback will instantly alert the plant manager to process upsets, allowing a quck reaction to lessen the impact. This helps to maximize mill throughput, product quality and energy efficiency.
Product Detail
Measures and Reports
5 particle size fractions simultaneously
Handles p80s between 280 and 25 microns
Slurry density or percent solids
Period averages, trends and historical data logging
Up to three streams
Benefits
Links with AnStat-220T and SamStat-20T as the source of the sample
Requires no dilution of slurry stream
Modern user interface and communication links with the plant network
Skid mounted for ease of installation
Detects process upsets such as cyclone disturbances
Standard one stream. (Optional 2 or 3 stream multiplexed at extra cost). Up to 5 size fractions and percent solids for each stream may be analyzed. Distributions with top size no greater than 1mm, and P80 of 295 microns (µ) down
Size fractions ranges :
Must be sub-sets of the overall measurement range and can be +295µ down to -8µ.
Sample Flow-rate required :
2.0 ? 4.5 m3/h of statistically correct sample from process (e.g. by Reverse Flow Sampler or Thermo ?SamStat?). Slurry can be 4 to 60% solids by wt., and solids S.G. of 2.0 to 5.5.
Ultrasonic transmitters :
6 frequencies selected at design stage to suit the process particle-size and % solids range
Accuracy :
Typically 0.75% absolute one sigma at the target grind for both size and percent solids. Note: independent of particle shape, mineralogy and matrix variations.
Utilities Required :
Specifications
Control and Display Module: Electrical Power :
110 to 130VAC; 50/60 Hz; 0.1 kW with water heater off, or 0.8 kW with water heater on.
Instrument Air :
Instrument-quality Air (clean and dry to 0.1 microns with dew point <2°C). Pressure nominally 690kPa (100psi) 450kPa to 800kPa.
Standardisation Water :
Only clean, fresh, potable water may be used, Volume is dependent upon frequency of standardization; normally once per shift, requiring about 12 litres (3 gallons) per day.
Water Flow to eductor/aspirator needs supply at 275-550kPa (40-80 psi) and a flow rate of 2.7 m3/h. (Can be re-circulated as an option).
Communications Links :
Specifications
Internal: PSM-400 to PC :
Each unit requires two pairs of shielded- twisted pair (1.5mm) instrumentation cable. Maximum length 1.0km for point to point current-loop to RS-232 connection.
External: PSM-400 to Control System :
4 to 20mA analog current loops (up to 16 x 12- bit channels)
PC to customer control system and LAN :
Ethernet link using TCP/IP protocol including OPC or EIA RS-232, RS-422 serial lines (MODBUS).
