Performance Verification
The mercury lamp is the primary standard recommended for testing wavelength accuracy by the USP, PH.EUR, JP, TGA, WHO, ASTM (E275-67), and other internationally recognized testing protocols. The fundamental emission lines of mercury are a physical property, and therefore require no traceability. Because the emission lines of mercury are very narrow, the accuracy of the instrument is tested to the highest possible tolerance. Instrument performance can also be verified by scanning the emission spectrum of the Mercury Lamp in single-beam or intensity mode.
Instrument Calibration
With the Mercury Lamp accessory, your Evolution 300 or 600 spectrophotometer can be calibrated exactly as it was in the factory. This ensures the highest level of performance. If you suspect or detect a problem with the accuracy of the wavelength scale after an instrument is dropped or moved, use the Mercury Lamp accessory to re-calibrate to the factory standard. Calibration with the mercury lamp accessory uses seven mercury lamp lines from wavelength 253.65 to 810 nm. A unique calibration curve is used for every spectral bandwidth (SBW) available with the Evolution 300 and 600 spectrophotometers. This means the calibration at 0.5 nm SBW is performed and stored independently of the calibration at 1.0 nm SBW.
Easy Installation
The Mercury Lamp accessory features kinematic mounting for easy installation, allowing you to align the lamp precisely in the optical path of the instrument. For convenience, the lamp can remain in place during normal instrument operation. The lamp change mirror adjusts automatically to ensure maximum transmission of the accessory.
