Thermo Scientific TGA VersaTherm systems (formerly sold under the Cahn brand) are designed for real-world samples, from small and pure to large and heterogeneous.  Flexible software and easy-to-use features in this compact instrument makes analysis simple.

High Mass - High Volume
The electromagnetic nulltype balance is the heart of this thermogravimetric analyzer. The TGA VersaTherm HM (High Mass), with a sample capacity of 100 g, provides 1 µg sensitivity. The ability to handle high mass and high volume samples can be critical. Often, complete parts like microchips and ball bearings must be measured. Coatings can be analyzed using the entire coated part, which improves accuracy and minimizes sample preparation. The high mass and high volume capability of the TGA VersaTherm provides a tremendous advantage with non-homogeneous, low density, or irregularly shaped samples.

Software
Data acquisition and data analysis are done with the powerful Thermo Scientific Thermal Analyst software. Compatible with Microsoft® Windows® NT, 2000 or XP, it provides the ultimate in flexibility and reliability.

High Vacuum – 5 x 10–5 torr
The TGA VersaTherm HS (High Sensitivity) and HM (High Mass) can be evacuated down to 5 x 10-5 torr using the optional vacuum accessory. This guarantees an oxygen-free environment and fast purges.

Corrosive or Reactive Gases
Corrosive or reactive gas environments including SO2, HCL, H2, CH4, O2 and H2S can easily damage thermal analysis systems. Our TGA VersaTherm instruments are designed to handle the most aggressive sample environment by incorporating a unique patented gas flow separation system and gold plated balance mechanism for added protection.

High Precision – High Sensitivity
The TGA VersaTherm HS (High Sensitivity) provides sensitivity of 0.1 µg. The wide dynamic range of this instrument makes it possible to measure trace components in very high purity materials.

High Volume
High volume is important when analyzing low density materials to maximize surface area exposure and prevent spillover contamination during out-gassing. The Cahn VersaTherm TGA provides unique, high-volume reactor tubes and sample containers up to 35 ml to accommodate these "real-world" samples.

High Mass
Sample mass is a vital factor when analyzing non-homogeneous materials such as coal, minerals and catalysts. The TGA VersaTherm offer's unique, high-mass capability up to 100 g.

Patented Synergy Interface for TG/FT-IR/MS
The patented Synergy interface uses a large ID "sniffer" tube to guarantee maximum gas transfer with minimal clogging. The no-flow zone guarantees minimal off-gas mixing, and the "sniffer" tube is positioned right above the sample to provide concentrated effluents.
