Based on the PCR 620’s proven design, the HAAKE PCR 630 is the on-line rheometer for processes where a short response time is needed. It is designed to control fast reactive processing such as PP-modification with Peroxides. With its 3 individually controlled melt pumps if offers a wide measuring range and short response times.

The PCR-630 is the latest generation of innovative process control technology from Rheometric Scientific for on-line rheological measurements of Melt Flow Index (MFI) and Viscosity. Its patented bypass pump design is especially suited for fractional and low MFI polymers, as well as applications sensitive to residence time. The PCR-630 is the fastest bypass rheometer design available and provides near real-time data with its Slit Die design and 3 independently driven and controlled melt pumps.

The PCR-630 is able to measure at standard ASTM loads and still maintain never before possible, minimal lag times which remain almost constant over the range of MI’s measurable. The PCR-630 also retains all of the patented features of its predecessor, the PCR-620. The Slit Die pressure control feature allows the PCR to operate at pressures above the process pressure, thereby insuring operation in the linear region of the transducers and prevention of out-gassing. This also allow the PCR-630 to cover a wide range of MI’s and follow transitions with a single die eliminating costly and troublesome die changes common to competitive systems.

The patented bypass design makes it possible to measure low shear rate viscosity without compromising residence time, thereby giving much more sensitivity to distinguishing different Molecular Weight materials. The PCR can operate in a variety of modes: Melt Index mode, Transition MI mode, Purge mode, Viscosity mode, and combinations. Correlations are possible to report a synthesized Mooney or Intrinsic Viscosity (IV). Recipes can be stored various product grades to define operating parameters and control values for each product grade. All data and activity with the PCR is historically logged to databases for trending, SPC reporting and data storage.

The PCR-630 is a "Return to Stream" design and is available with a Valve Block for process isolation and an Optical Block to allow on-line spectroscopic analysis (additional equipment required). All melts pumps and Slit Dies are selectable for optimization to the process.
