Conclusion:
Using a preconcentration column in tandem with an analytical HPLC column allowed for the quantitation of a triazine herbicide mixture over the concentration range 0.1 – 100 pg/mL. Direct 20 mL injections were performed with the two HPLC columns. The large injection volume capabilities of the EQuan system eliminated the need for laborious and expensive offline preconcentration using solid phase extraction. Injection volumes ranging from 1 mL to 20 mL are possible using this configuration, thus offering flexibility for laboratories based on their sensitivity and reporting requirements.
