| The production of magnetic recording media, for example, the hard drives on all of our computers, is a multibillion-dollar industry. So, it is natural for disk drive manufacturers to be interested in using X-ray diffraction as a tool for designing new disk drives with higher data storage capacity. The application described in the attached PDF file (that you can download with Acrobat Reader) was done on a previous generation of XRD powder diffractomer, but remains valid for current models.
