| A pesticide’s allowable tolerance (measured in ppm) can span several orders of magnitude, depending upon the food source. To analyze the large numbers of samples whose pesticide treatment history is usually unknown, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) uses analytical methods capable of simultaneously determining a number of pesticide residues.
Due to its specificity in identifying compounds, LC/MS/MS is emerging as the technique of choice for identifying and quantifying pesticides.
The objective of this work was to demonstrate the use of the TSQ Quantum Discovery™ in developing an automated, generic, high-throughput LC/MS/MS screening method to simultaneously detect and quantitate nearly 100 pesticides following minimal separation using an HPLC.
