AN10281: Analysis of Pesticides and Flame Retardants in Drinking Water According to US EPA Method 527 by Single Quadrupole GC/MS
A fast, accurate and highly selective analysis of pesticides and flame retardants in drinking water using gas chromatography and a single stage quadrupole mass spectrometer according to US EPA Method 527
Flame retardants are a broad group of brominated organic compounds used in plastics, electronics, textiles, and clothing. AN10281 describes a method used to provide a short run time and accuracy of analysis for US EPA Method 527 using the following Thermo Scientific instruments: DSQ™ II single quadrupole mass spectrometer, FOCUS™ GC gas chromatograph and the AS 3000 II autosampler. Average instrument detection limits (IDL) of 0.034 μg/L were achieved using this method, with an IDL of 0.043 μg/L for 2,2',4,4'5-pentabromodiphenyl ether and 0.063 μg/L for 2,2',4,4',5,5'-hexabromodiphenyl ether.
