Total Acid Number in Lubrication Oil
Log # 12 Titration Application Note
The total acid number (TAN) of lubrication oil is determined by using the first derivative technique. A KOH / methanol titrant is added to a volume of solvent mixture containing an accurately weighed, 20 g oil samplle, a Ross pH electrode and a reference electrode. The Orion 960 Autotitrator PLUS determines the endpoint and calculates the total acid number of each sample.
