  30X Increased Sensitivity in the Determination of PCBs in Water and Soil by GC-ECD using Large Volume Splitless Technique (US EPA 8082 and US EPA 3545)
 Detect PCBs at ppt levels with a 30X increase in sensitivity
 This application features a method for the detection of PCBs at ppt levels in water and soil matrices (US EPA 8082) with a 20 to 30X increase in sensitivity when compared to conventional GC.  

The Thermo Scientific TRACE GC Ultra™ equipped with an Electron Capture Detector (ECD) is used in this application, in addition to the TriPlus™ Autosampler for automated injections and a Large Volume Splitless (LVSL) software assistant for automated determination of optimal operating parameters. 

The Thermo Scientific proprietary LVSL technique makes this increased sensitivity possible by allowing the injection of larger sample volumes - up to 50 µL - without requiring the tuning of operating parameters.
