Agenda: The goal of this presentation is to introduce the LTQ FT, to describe some of the techniques that can be performed on it, and to explain the different applications that it can perform.
After a short introduction, two of the distinguishing features of the instrument, parallel processing and accurate mass determination, are discussed. The standard workflow for parallel processing is described, and the results from a standard bottom-up protein analysis measurement are shown. Following a general discussion of accurate mass determination we will discuss a few practical applications. Lastly, the different Collision Induced Dissociation (CID) techniques of the LTQ FT will be presented.
