Thermo Scientific Offers Ultimate Separation Power through Comprehensive Two-Dimensional GCxGC
MILAN, Italy (February 27, 2005) – Recognizing the challenges faced by chromatographers using conventional GC methods, Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE:TMO) has added a revolutionary new dimension to the TRACE GCxGC. This new instrument is based on Thermo’s TRACE GC Ultra Platform and incorporates HyperChrom GCxGC specific data handling software.
Primarily targeted at refineries and the petrochemical industry, environmental laboratories, the food and fragrance industries and government agencies, the TRACE GCxGC is especially suitable for the analysis of target compounds in complex matrices. It will also overcome the limitations currently encountered when using GC conventional methods for detailed sample characterization.
The TRACE GCxGC is configured with a special set-up consisting of two columns displaying different physical properties (“orthogonal” separation). This provides a higher degree of modulator control. The chromatograph's resolving power is increased by a factor of ten compared to conventional GC methods.
The TRACE GCxGC improves both qualitative and quantitative analyses by “ordering” compounds according to their chemical and physical properties. The results are presented in a structured 3-D chromatogram and identification is based on a set of retention times.
The TRACE GCxGC is available in three different versions that can all be upgraded to enable large sample volume introduction:
- TRACE GCxGC Split/Splitless/Flame Ionization Detector
- TRACE GCxGC Programmable Temperature Vaporization (PTV)/Flame Ionization Detector
- TRACE GCxGC On-column/Flame Ionization Detector
