This converter provides support for importing data from Hewlett-Packard PC-based Chromatography Chemstation software packages. This converter supports HP binary file types 8, 30 and 81. These formats are used by the software packages for a variety of HP chromatograph systems (including 5890 & 6890 GCs and some HPLCs).
The default file extensions for this converter are *.D and *.CH. Depending on the source of the data and the system it was collected on, the file naming and extensions may be different, even though the format of the data is the same. Some systems simply store the data in any user specified directory using a "<filename>.D" naming convention. These files can be imported without any changes.
Other systems store files within subdirectories named for the sample such as "<filename>.D[DET][S][P].CH" naming convention where [DET] is a 3 letter abbreviation for the detector type (i.e., "FID", "TCD", "ECD", etc.), [S] is the signal number (>1 if more than 1 channel), and [P] is the detector position letter ("A" or "B"). On import, it is recommended that the "Manual" option be used within "Output Rename" to type in a new, more descriptive name for each file as it is imported.
On import, the Y units type is set by the detector units string in the file. If no string is found, the Y units will default to "Counts."
