| The converter assumes that the X,Y pairs are equally spaced on the X axis. Therefore, it uses only the first and last X values to calculate the X axis range. All other X coordinates are ignored. On export, the X and Y values are stored using a maximum of 6 significant figures. For some high resolution data (i.e., >0.01 cm-1 for IR), the X value precision will not be enough to accurately represent every X value. In this case, use the ASCIIXYP (high Precision) converter for export.
The ASCII_XY converter automatically detects files where the delta X between any two data points is greater than a preset sensitivity value. Files with X delta spacing larger than the sensitivity will not convert. The sensitivity is normally set to 0.01 (approximately 1%) when the converter is shipped. Use caution when entering large values for the sensitivity, as only the maximum and minimum X will be used to set the X axis, possibly giving incorrect data point positions. If the data is truly non-evenly spaced, use the ASCIIXYS (un-even Spacing) to create GRAMS/AI XY files. |
