DIF (Data Interchange Format) is an industry standard for transporting data supported by most spreadsheets and many databases. Files are assumed to have a .DIF filename extension. When X,Y data is imported from DIF, the converter looks for a single column or row of values. Nothing may appear above or to the left of the first value in the spreadsheet. To use the DIF format, you must have a program (such as a spreadsheet) that exports to the DIF format. Enter the data from within this program in this order:
Type Meaning
Number Number of Y values Number First point's X value Number Last point's X value Text (or Number) X unit type Text (or Number) Y unit type Text (or Number) Resolution of data Number First Y value Number Second Y value ... Number Last Y value
Use the program to export the data to a DIF format file and then import the DIF file to GRAMS. During export, the data is placed in the same format in a single column. However, it may appear in another program as a row, depending on that program's import capabilities of other programs.
